FR Adviser LLC is an independent R&D consulting company that focuses on flame retardant (FR) technology and has been providing services since 2015. Dr. Anteneh Z. Worku is the founder and R&D Consultant at FR Adviser LLC. He has over 20 years of experience in the Chemical Industry with focus on FR R&D. He has extensive hands-on research experience in the discovery, synthesis, development and screening of halogen free FRs with a ‘Structure Property Relationship’ approach. Dr. Worku utilizes broad industry experience in identifying market and technology needs to create realistic and targeted projects and solutions that solve your problems. His experience of having worked for a company that produces FRs and a company that incorporates FRs in their commercial resins, gives him a unique perspective into the value chain and outside-in look of your research pipeline and marketing strategies.
Prior to starting his consulting business, Dr. Worku worked at The Dow Chemical Company as a Senior R&D Scientist. He was responsible for development of new halogen free FRs for thermoplastic and thermoset resins. Dr. Worku has developed reactive and additive FRs for use in various applications including polystyrene foam, polyurethane, wire and cable and printed circuit boards. He has co-invented a sustainable brominated copolymer alternative to HBCD used in XPS and EPS foam (PolyFR) which resulted in several granted patents and a 2012 R&D 100 award. In his earlier years, Dr. Worku worked at Albemarle Corporation synthesizing new phosphorus based FRs and developing formulations for thermoplastic resins. He has received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Technical University of Munich, Germany and has done post doctoral research at the University of Arizona. Dr. Worku is a member of ACS, SAMPE and PINFA.
